Week Of Struggle 13-18th October

Birmingham Socialist Party members will have a busy week ahead of them with pay strikes in the public sector and the Britain Needs A Pay Rise national demonstration on October 18th.

With NHS staff coming out on Monday morning and civil service staff on strike all day Wednesday, we'll be heading down to picket lines and hospitals, Jobcentres and offices across the city to offer support and argue for the fighting strategy we say is needed to beat the Tories.

With the dispute being centered over a miserly pay rise of 1%, after four years of real-terms pay cuts and redundancies, we say that a determined campaign of united strike action involving as many different public services as possible is what's needed to make this government sit up and listen to the worker's demands.

Meanwhile we'll be heading down to the national demonstration in London on Saturday 18th organised by the Trades Union Congress (TUC), to raise the demand for a £10 an hour minimum wage and provide a strong socialist presence on the march.
